FAQS

What is the Variety 4WD Adventure?

The Variety 4WD Adventure is a nine-day outback adventure, taking 4WD vehicles and their owners off the bitumen and onto some of Australia's most exciting off-road tracks. The event will bring you the very best of WA's magnificent scenery, tracks, private lands, local food prepared by a private chef, and of course - plenty of fun and entertainment.

Whether we're staying on the coast or at a remote station, there are accommodation options to suit every budget and no two nights are the same.

You can enter as a car of 2- 4 participants. As well as entry fees, participants fundraise for Variety and must meet the minimum fundraising target to go on the event. Along the way, you'll get to visit schools and remote communities and present them with grants and sponsorships to participants see first-hand how their fundraising helps kids in need.

As with all Variety events, safety is a major consideration. Our experienced support team includes 4WD experts to help with recovery and mechanical issues, a doctor and private chef.

The Variety 4WD Adventure caters for both the experienced and inexperienced four wheel drive enthusiasts, with options to take an easier track on the more difficult terrain.

The Variety 4WD Adventure is Variety WA’s second highest fundraiser behind our flagship event, the Variety Bash.

Where is the 2021 Variety 4WD Adventure going?

You will also need camping equipment. While we try to provide accomodation options wherever possible, there may be a night or two where we will be staying away from accomodation facilities. You may like to camp for the entire week or mix camping with accommodation throughout the week - the choice is yours!

What is and isn't tax deductible?

Monies donated to Variety are generally tax deductible if they are an unfettered donation (if the donor has received no value in return for the donation). For example, entrance fees, raffle tickets and auction items are not tax-deductible, while donations made towards your fundraising page are tax deductible (if you haven't promised anything in return for them).

Variety assumes no liability for action taken as a result of these guidelines. In any instances where an entrant or a sponsor is uncertain of the tax implications of their involvement, they should consult their own accountant or tax adviser.

Do I need 4WD experience?

The 4WD Adventure caters for both the experienced and inexperienced four-wheel drivers, with challenging 4WD tracks and more accessible alternative tracks also available en-route.

If you are after a road trip that allows you to truly test your 4WD abilities with a full support crew on-hand to help you in sticky situations, then the Variety 4WD Adventure is for you!

Who should I include in my crew?

The Variety 4WD Adventure caters for couples, groups of mates or family teams. All participants must be 18+, but aside from that, all are welcome.

If you have accessibility requirements, please let us know when you sign up so we can accomodate this where possible on the trip.

How do I fundraise?

$6,000 may seem like a lot of money as a whole, but you’ll be surprised how generous people will be when you let them know about the cause.

When your Captain (the key representative for your car) signs up, they will be able to create their own fundraising page for your car, which you can share with friends, family and colleagues to make a tax-deductable donation.

You can also host your own fundraising event such as a sausage sizzle, quiz night or something more creative. Make sure you check out our A-Z List of Fundraising Ideas to help you get off to a racing start on your fundraising journey. When you register, you will be given a fundraising guide and extra tips to help you become Variety's next top fundraiser!

The events team are also on hand to support you with your fundraising needs and you can give us a call at anytime to request assistance with your fundraising.
