Australian Governments have developed legislation in each State and Territory governing the conduct of fundraising. Under the Fundraising Acts, anyone wishing to raise money for charitable purposes on must hold an authority to fundraise issued by that organisation. So before you get started, Variety – the Children’s Charity of Western Australia will need to an Authority to Fundraise letter. This will be processed once you set up this fundraising page and a staff member reviews your fundraising proposal. On receipt and approval of your application (this may take up to 5 working days), an Authority to Fundraise letter will be provided. Please note you cannot start fundraising until a letter of authority has been issued by Variety – the Children’s Charity.
There may be legal issues to consider in relation to your fundraising appeal or event. It’s your responsibility to make sure your event complies with the law.
Variety – the Children’s Charity of Western Australia public liability insurance does not cover your event. If you are planning to run an event, please contact the correct insurance providers to arrange this.
Management of the event is your sole responsibility. Variety – the Children’s Charity staff and volunteers cannot help with prizes, media or publicity, or provide goods or services to run the event.
