You can help give comfort and care to a child in crisis!

Donate a Variety Sunshine Pack for a child escaping abuse or neglect

Your kindness will help a child who is escaping abuse have all the essentials they need to help them settle into their first night in care. Each pack gives every child something to focus on, at a time when their whole world has been turned upside down. They help enhance the mental and emotional health and wellbeing of a child and assist in their journey of healing from trauma.

Each pack is carefully put together by volunteers.

"Each year there is an increase in incidents of Family and Domestic Violence as well as an increase in the number of children entering out-of-home care. As a direct result we see an increase in demand for Sunshine Packs provided to children and young people entering emergency accommodation and out-of-home care. The packs have a positive impact on the children who receive them, giving them an important message of being valued and cared for by the community which donate”

-
Leah Atkinson, Operation Sunshine WA

Packs  will vary acording to age with each pack filled with age appropriate essential and comfort items. A typical Sunshine Pack will contain the folowing items:

“Many children come into a foster care placement with no personal belongings which adds to their traumatic experience. Receiving a Sunshine Pack contributes to improving a child’s mental and physical wellbeing. The packs make them feel valued and cared for with the individual contents that is age appropriate. A lot of thought and care go into the preparation of the packs and can be the most attention a child has received for some time. The children enjoy having something of their own and even something as small as having a clean pair of pyjamas and a soft toy is comforting for them. “ - Team Leader Out of Home Care Service
